While Glosel is a trading company, we also engage in LSI development and software development work that requires expert knowledge. Using our capability for development, we established the in-house brand, "STREAL."
STREAL is a semiconductor strain sensor with three characteristics: its ultra-compact size, high accuracy, and continuous measurement. Boasting high performance that could detect changes of just 1 mm in an object 1 km long, it enables measurement of items the human senses cannot recognize. We gathered together functions on a 2.5 mm-square semiconductor chip to achieve a more compact size and lower power consumption.
We expect it can be applied to a wide variety of fields from infrastructure to industrial devices, and will contribute to the further development of an ultra-smart society as an original technology unique to Glosel.
Solution
Providing high added value from planning and design to delivery
Our business includes the "design in" activity. This refer to providing technical proposals from the initial stage, that is, planning and design stage, of our customers' development, using the optimal semiconductors and electronics parts handled by Glosel in our customers' new products. Through these "design in" activities, we increase the value of our customers' products through being deeply involved from the upstream processes of our customers' product design.
It generally takes two to three years, or about five years in the automobile industry, to actually establish a transaction from this "design in" activity. During that time, we stay united with the customer, supporting product development and becoming involved in business itself.
Glosel is a semiconductor trading company. However, while we are a trading company, we also have the capabilities of a fabless manufacturer, including development capability requiring expert knowledge such as software development and LSI development, and research development and quality assurance. By becoming a bridge to connect the aspirations of product manufacturers with those of semiconductor and parts manufacturers, we can solve the issues faced by each to provide high added value.

Developing Bases to Support Global Production of Our Customers
Customers wanting to create a global production system require a network that allows procurement of semiconductors and electronic parts with the local support provided that is the same as within Japan.
Glosel has established a seamless support system for the overseas expansion of our customers through strengthened collaboration and cooperation between our overseas subsidiaries and sales section in Japan. We have established local bases in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand in Asia, as well as Detroit in the US, in order to provide parts smoothly in all regions to meet the needs of our customers. We support the manufacturing efforts of Japanese companies operating abroad. This network can meet a wide variety of demands and support the expansion of our customers' business operations regardless of whether within Japan or abroad.
This system not only functions to supply parts but also propose solutions for the overseas expansion of design and development, as well as to provide support for suppliers such as local semiconductor and electronic parts manufacturers, and various other forms of support such as discovering new attractive products.
